A classicand renowned English bittersweet, discovered as a hedgerowseedling in Somerset in the early 1900s. Small to medium fruit witharomatic, greenish flesh and full tannin. Good enough for a single-varietal cider, and a favorite for blending with sharper apples.Vigorous, spreading tree with good resistance to scab. Tender in Zone 4; the long ripening season can also be an issue for northerngrowers.
