Ulmus davidiana var. japonica
Grows quickly into a broad, rounded crown with attractive serrated leaves that turn yellow in fall. Tolerant of heavy soils, road salt, and harsh winters; a good choice for shelterbelts and shade. Japanese Elm shows strong resistance to Dutch Elm Disease. Reaches 40–60 feet at maturity, with a sturdy form and long lifespan. Plant in full sun, spaced well for canopy spread. Excellent as a street or yard tree where durability and hardiness are required.
