"Phoenix Tears" Goji Berry

Lycium barbarum

1-2 foot plants at shipment.

Native to northern China, where its fruit has been used for centuries in tea and cooking. A sprawling, multi-stemmed shrub reaching 5-7 ft. tall and equally wide, with slender, arching branches and small lavender flowers from early to late summer.
Flowers give way to elongated orange-red berries that cling to the stems for weeks. Eat them fresh, dry them like raisins, or steep for tea. Self-fertile; one plant will bear, but two will bear more. Best in full sun and well-drained soil; tolerates poor, sandy ground once established. Hardy to at least -35°F, with some growers reporting success into Zone 3 under good snow cover. A tough, productive addition to hedgerows, borders,
and edible landscapes.
