Selected around 1865 by nurseryman A.R. Whitney at his nursery in Franklin Grove, Illinois.  Small to medium, round-conic fruit.  Crisp, juicy, yellowish flesh, sweet-sharp with a touch of astringency; good for fresh eating, sauce, jelly, and cider. Vigorous, upright-spreading tree, bears young and heavily. Good resistance to fireblight and scab.

3-5 foot trees.
