Crimson Passion - Dwarf Pie Cherry
Prunus cerasus X P. fruticosa
From the ‘romance series’ out of University of Saskatchewan. These are attractive and highly productive trees that generally top out around 8-10 feet (smaller than Bali) and have a fairly bushy growing habit. The large, quarter-sized fruit makes picking go fast; they will yield 20-25 lbs. of fruit per year at maturity!
Crimson Passion: -50°F with occasional injury. Prunus cerasus X P. fruticosa. Brix = 20–22°. Ripens in early August and has the highest brix of the series, but also a 10-15% lower yield than the others on most years. Larger fruit; also marginally larger pits, which can be an advantage for processing. Self-fertile, but yields will be higher with another variety nearby.
2-3 foot plants.
